How do Botox®, Jeuveau™, and Xeomin® cosmetic treatments work?
Botox®, Jeuveau™, and Xeomin® are FDA-approved procedures for treating the appearance of aging, and they are non-permanent. Doctors and nurse practitioners inject the formulations to diminish visible lines and wrinkles caused by muscle movement and tension in the face and neck. The products can significantly improve the appearance of lines around or between the eyes, across the forehead and neck, or along the mouth or jawline regardless of their causes.
Botox®, Jeuveau™, and Xeomin® work in a similar fashion to one another and rely on the same active ingredient to produce a more youthful and rejuvenated look. These injectables are neuromodulators that stop nerve signals from telling muscles to contract. The formulations contain purified proteins that immobilize muscles by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine.
